Go in Peace 15 July 2013 S Assembly Bible study on John 14:27-31 by Néstor O. Míguez for the WCC Assembly, 7 November 2013: At the Last Supper, Jesus said, “peace.” When Jesus tells us about peace, the night before his betrayal and death, he is not speaking from a peaceful place in his own life. Where and what kind of peace are the church and the ecumenical movement talking about? God's peace is not temporary, and it does not have to do with happy events. Peace is a matter of life for those people who are yearning for it. At the end of the assembly, “go in peace” will be a biblical and missiological empowerment and mandate for us to bear witness to the vision of abundant life in the new heaven and earth.

Changing international and political context (Ecumenical conversations) 16 February 2006 B Assembly "Changing international and political context" : From the prophet Isaiah to the pastor Bonhoeffer, from Esther in ancient Israel to the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo in Argentina of our day, prophets are real and inspiring. They are raised up in honour at regular intervals in the Bible. God's promise of a new heaven and a new earth owes something to their labors. Yet most believers—no matter how committed to God's justice—would not call themselves prophets or think of themselves as prophetic people.

World Trade Game 01 January 2006 B WCC Programmes The World Trade Game was initially developed in the 1990s by Action Aid, the global anti-poverty development organization. Its strength is its simplicity. Six groups of players represent two rich, two middle-income and two poor countries and each group has different resources and technological potential. National resources are represented as paper whilst technology becomes scissors, pens, rulers, etc. They manufacture shapes from paper, trade the shapes for money through a commodity trader and may also trade amongst themselves in raw materials (paper), technology (scissors, ruler, etc), skills and labour.
Participating in God's Mission of Reconciliation - A Resource for Churches in Situations of Conflict 31 December 2005 Commission on Faith and Order This text (Faith and Order Paper no. 201) results from the study on Ethnic Identity, National Identity, and the Search for the Unity of the Church done by Faith and Order with the collaboration of the WCC's Justice, Peace and Creation team. It offers resources for churches in situations of tension or conflict, especially where ethnic and national tensions are major factors, and suggests how Christian unity can further the churches' witness for reconciliation and justice.

Interrogating and Redefining Power - A theological consultation 01 May 2004 Commission on Faith and Order If violence is an exercise of power over the powerless or a retaliation to such, what makes power prone to abuse? Why do people not only fear but also aspire for sources of violent power? Why do some religious traditions view violence as a divine attribute? How is power understood and exercised within our churches? What biblical and theological resources do we have to offer in the search for responsible new ways of understanding and exercising power? Interrogating and redefining power is crucial to our attempts to overcome violence.
